Project done in collaboration with Reference Studios

How do you design a digital space that captures the energy of underground music scenes? How can an app serve as a hub for emerging artists and cultural meetings?
Skills
UI/UX Design – Designed mockups in Figma
User Research & Cultural Analysis – Captured youth culture aesthetics through design experimentation.
Design Strategy & Branding – Worked within an existing visual identity while expanding and adapting it to a new format.
Prototyping & Interaction Design – Developed interactive elements including live-streaming, event alerts, and a media player.
Stakeholder Collaboration – Worked closely with Reference Studios to shape the product vision and refine design choices.
The app is a hyper-contemporary platform for music and culture, supporting underground communities, emerging artists, and local scenes across Europe. The goal was to design an app interface that seamlessly integrates live-streamed DJ sets, events, and radio while capturing the energy of youth culture. My task was to create high-fidelity mockups that align with the clients wishes while embodying the spirit of underground music culture.
Project Description
Design Rationale
When designing the app, I focused on visually amplifying the energy of underground artists. Many of these musicians already have a strong and interesting visual identity, so I built the design around showcasing their unique personalities. I experimented with bold typography, and a color palette that feels both contemporary and refined, balancing the DIY energy of underground scenes with a more polished, modern design.

The design was also inspired by old-school billboards as cultural gathering points. I incorporated playful yet structured typography to create a sense of movement —mirroring the dynamic feel of local underground scenes. The result is a hub for subcultures, a digital space where music, art, and community meet.
